The T.I.G.E.R.R. Paragraph
T = Topic Sentence
This sentence, or sentences, will tell the reader exactly what your paragraph will be about. You can often restate the question or prompt as your topic sentence.
I = Introduce the Example
This sentence, or sentences, will tell the reader the context of your example, ie what is happening in the story.
G = Give Example From Text
This sentence, or sentences, are direct quotes from your reading, research, video, interview, etc. You MUST cite the page number, paragraph, etc.
E = Explain the Example
This sentence, or sentences, explain how the evidence supports the topic sentence
R = Reason You Chose Example
This sentence, or sentences, explain why you chose the evidence example from the text. This sentence can be an “I statement” type of sentence.
R = Restate Topic Sentence
This sentence, or sentences, ends the paragraph with a final thought. It can restate your topic, summarize your argument, or provides a call to action.
