I'd heard a lot of great things about this novel and after finding it on sale on Amazon, I bought it. I've been wanting to read it for weeks and was finally able to start over the weekend. I think my excitement about the novel was too high, because while I'm enjoying it, I'm not completely into the story as I thought I would be. I keep falling asleep after a few pages. I thought it would be a quick read for me to get lost in over the weekend and it's turning out to be quite different.
One aspect of teaching ELA that you don't know is that before I decide whether or not what books we will read in class, I preview them, meaning I read them first. Then, before we start the unit, I re-read the book, taking notes and preparing your Reader's Journal questions. Our next novel is 'The Lost Hero" and I'm starting my second read this week. I'm looking forward to reading and discussing the book with you.
Lastly, my book review for Antigoddes comes out this week. I'll update this post with the link when it's released.
